Specialists in Bioclimatic pergolas SKYCLIMATE: Innovation and Outdoor Comfort
At Toldos Teo, we understand that your outdoor space is a private refuge that deserves the best. Our bioclimatic pergola SKYCLIMATE is the cutting-edge solution designed to transform terraces, gardens and pool areas into living spaces all year round, creating protected, safe and extremely welcoming environments. More than a structure, it is a piece of engineering that adapts to the climatic conditions of the Marina Alta to offer you the well-being you are looking for every moment of the day.
Technology and design in every detail
The structure of the SKYCLIMATE stands out for its sophisticated configuration, where design meets maximum functionality. Its S-shaped aluminum slats, fully adjustable by means of a motorized system, allow you to precisely control the entry of light and natural ventilation, adapting the shade to your exact needs. Each slat includes a sealing gasket that ensures an airtight seal against the elements, guaranteeing that your room will always remain in optimal conditions.
Intelligent weather protection
The design of this pergola goes far beyond sun protection. It has a robust perimeter bumper made of a 240 x 140 mm aluminum channel, which invisibly integrates a water recovery system. This design guarantees a clean and efficient rain evacuation, avoiding accumulations on the structure. In addition, so that you can enjoy your terrace with total peace of mind, the system incorporates an advanced rain sensor that automatically manages the closing of the slats when it detects the first drops, thus protecting your furniture and the interior of the space without the need for manual intervention.

Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is a bioclimatic pergola?
It is a sturdy aluminum structure with a modern design, whose roof is composed of motorized adjustable slats. Unlike a fixed pergola or an awning, these slats allow you to “play” with the weather: you can open them to let light and air in, tilt them for shade with natural ventilation, or close them completely to create a watertight roof that protects from rain and intense sun.
How is it different from a wooden pergola or a traditional awning?
The main difference is versatility and resistance. While an awning only provides shade and a wooden pergola requires a lot of maintenance, the bioclimatic one regulates the temperature in a natural way (“bioclimatic” effect) thanks to the air circulation between the slats, is 100% waterproof when closed and is made of high-strength aluminum that withstands the coastal climate with little maintenance.
Are they really waterproof when it rains? What about water?
Yes, when the louvers are closed, the roof is totally watertight. They are designed with an intelligent rubber and sealing system. In addition, the structure has an integrated gutter system hidden in the posts. When it rains, the water collects in the slats, goes to the perimeter channels and drains through the inside of the legs, preventing water from gushing onto your terrace.
Do they withstand the strong winds in the area?
Absolutely. Our bioclimatic pergolas are very robust structures made of high quality extruded aluminum. They are designed and tested to withstand significant wind loads, much higher than those supported by an articulated arm awning. They are the safest option for wind-exposed areas near the sea.
Does the intense sun and salty coastal environment affect the material?
Aluminum is the ideal material for our climate. It does not rust like iron and does not crack in the sun like wood. In addition, we use high quality lacquers (generally Qualicoat certified) that guarantee excellent resistance to marine corrosion and UV fading.
How do the slats move, and is it complicated?
It’s very simple. The system is motorized and is conveniently controlled from a remote control or, if you prefer, from an app on your cell phone. With a single button you can adjust the slats to the exact angle you want.
What happens if it starts raining and I am not at home?
You don’t have to worry. We strongly recommend the installation of rain and wind sensors. If the sensor detects rain, the slats will close automatically to protect your patio furniture. If it detects excessively strong wind, the blades may open slightly to relieve pressure on the structure (safety mode). Is a greenhouse effect created underneath when it is very hot?
On the contrary. That’s the magic of “bioclimatic”. If you open the slats slightly on a hot summer day, the hot air (which tends to rise) escapes through the slits, creating a natural air flow (convection) that reduces the temperature under the pergola by several degrees compared to the outside. You will be much cooler than under a closed canvas awning.
Where can they be installed?
They adapt to almost any space. They can be installed “attached” to the facade of the house (ideal for extending the living room to the terrace) or “self-supporting” (as an independent island in the middle of the garden or next to the pool).
Can I customize my pergola and what extras can I add?
Customization is almost total. You can choose from a wide range of RAL colors for the structure and slats. In addition, you can turn it into a real outdoor lounge by adding:
-
LED lighting: integrated in the louvers or in the perimeter (with dimmer).
-
Side enclosures: Motorized vertical blinds (screen type) for extra sun protection and privacy, or even glass curtains.
-
Infrared heaters: to enjoy the terrace in the cool winter nights in Javea.
-
Do I need a building permit to install it?
Generally, pergolas are considered light and removable structures, so they often do not require a building permit. However, the town planning regulations depend on each municipality (Jávea, Dénia, Teulada-Moraira…). In Toldos Teo we will advise you on the current situation of local regulations in your municipality before installation.
How much maintenance do they require?
Minimal. As they are made of aluminum, they only need periodic cleaning with water and neutral soap to remove dust or accumulated saltpeter, and to verify that the drains are not obstructed by leaves. You will never have to sand or varnish.
